The retailer has bought a plot of land on the platform to explore the possibilities of virtual worlds, in order to develop experiences around events, product launches and NFT.
On the land at location 33,147 you can see a small flag with the Carrefour logo. But this is only the beginning, the objective being that in the coming months a whole universe in the image of the brand will be on The Sandbox.
The group’s 2022 strategic plan emphasizes digital, and pushes further experimentation in the metaverse after having marked its presence last summer on Fortnite through The Healthy Map. And having signed in November a strategic partnership with Meta (the former Facebook) in nine countries including France.
The Carrefour group believes that it is important to be present in the metaverse now because according to them “consumer habits are evolving at an unprecedented speed”.
